History of AwanTunai

After dedicating a lot of time building Go-Jek, Rama decided to take a break before taking on other challenges. However, during this break, he was occasionally asked to speak regarding the development of the start-up industry in Indonesia. One of the cities he visited was Surabaya, while in Surabaya, Rama met his old friend and invited him to visit the Bangilan area, one of the areas in Tuban, about 4 hours’ drive from Surabaya.

There, Rama chatted with local residents, the majority of whom farming was their main occupation. Starting from this conversation, it turned out that they had a lot of financial problems, especially working capital and limited access to finance from banks, so they had no other choice but to borrow from local loan sharks who charged very high interest rates (200%+ pa.).

What is AwanTunai

PT Simplefi Teknologi Indonesia or better known as AwanTunai was established in Indonesia in 2017. Windy Hill Pte.Ltd. and Rama Notowidigdo are the stakeholders of the company. AwanTunai is engaged in the activity of organizing information technology-based co-funding that focuses on developing the supply chain ecosystem of the FMCG-Grocery industry. AwanTunai is registered and supervised by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). In addition, Awantunai is an active member of the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI).

Prada is an expert in sales with an experience more than 15 years in the banking industry. Before joining AwanTunai he was the Head of China Construction Bank (CCB Indonesia).

Chandra is an expert in credit and risk with huge experience in the banking industry. He was a Senior Reviewer Commercial for PT Jtrust Bank, Tbk. He also contributes to several banks such as CIMB Niaga Bank, China Construction Bank, and Lippo Bank.

Rico had a decade of experience in the banking business with exposure to corporate and Consumer Banking. He was Director of IT PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk.

Armed with knowledge from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Dino believes that the presence of a fintech institution like AwanTunai can encourage financial independence for the people of Indonesia. Dino founded AwanTunai in June 2017.

Rico had a decade of experience in the banking business with exposure to corporate and Consumer Banking. He was Director of IT PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk.

Management Team

Shilpa is a seasoned banker and has a strong financial services pedigree having spent her entire professional career in investment banking, payments, transaction advisory, and audit across Asia and Europe with a deep understanding of lending in emerging markets.

Together with Dino, Rama founded AwanTunai with the ambition to advance the welfare of the Indonesian people. Rama has worked at Oracle Corporation, Collabnet, he co-founded Nostra Solusi Teknologi. He was the CTO for Kartuku, and CPO for Go-Jek Indonesia. He also co-founded Sayurbox and is an advisor for OY! Indonesia and Adskom.

Ying Li is an expert in data mining, text mining, machine learning and software optimization with 100 patents filed or granted.
